Working of HT12E + HT12D IC :

The HT12E and HT12D are a pair of ICs (Integrated Circuits) commonly used for wireless remote control systems or data transmission in simple applications. They function together to encode and decode information, facilitating communication between a transmitter and a receiver.

  1. HT12E (Encoder):
    • The HT12E is an encoder IC. It takes parallel data inputs and encodes them into a serial output. It typically has address and data pins.
    • It’s commonly used in remote control systems. For example, when a button is pressed on a remote, the HT12E encodes the button’s information along with an address code.
    • It generates a series of coded outputs based on the input data and address pins, which are then transmitted wirelessly or through a medium to a receiver.
  2. HT12D (Decoder):
    • The HT12D is a decoder IC that receives the serial data transmitted by the HT12E. It decodes the received data back into parallel form.
    • It usually has address pins matching the HT12E’s address settings. When a compatible signal is received with the correct address, it decodes the data.
    • In a remote control scenario, the HT12D decodes the received signal and retrieves the original button information, allowing the receiver to take appropriate action (e.g., turning on a device).

Together, the HT12E and HT12D enable simple and effective wireless communication by encoding data at the transmitter and decoding it at the receiver. They’re often used in remote control applications for things like garage door openers, wireless doorbells, or basic wireless control systems.

The HT 12E Encoder ICs are series of CMOS LSIs for Remote Control system applications. They are capable of Encoding 12 bit of information which consists of N address bits and 12-N data bits. Each address/data input is externally trinary programmable if bonded out.

The HT 12D ICs are series of CMOS LSIs for remote control system applications. This ICs are paired with each other. For proper operation a pair of encoder/decoder with the same number of address and data format should be selected. The Decoder receive the serial address and data from its corresponding decoder, transmitted by a carrier using an RF transmission medium and gives output to the output pins after processing the data.
